Jose Riveiro fumes disappointed with the Bucs performance

Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro says he’s disappointed about his team’s performance, after they lost 3-1 to SuperSport United at the new Peter Mokaba stadium in Polokwane, Limpopo in a DStv Premiership encounter.

Despite dominating the match, Pirates failed to take advantage of opportunities created.

The Soweto giants scored their solitary goal in the first half, courtesy of Fortune Makaringe.

“We started the game very well.

We had the opportunity to finish the game in the first 30 minutes, but we didn’t and were punished.

In the second half we were playing very well, before conceding the second goal.

Even with the 2-1 and 3-1 we had chances to collect something tonight,” said Riveiro.

SuperSport’s 18-year-old teenage sensation Shandre Campbell scored a brace and created an assist for veteran striker, Bradley Grobler, as the team rallied from behind to win the encounter.

The Spaniard defended a blunder by goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi, which saw Matsatsantsa extend their lead by three goals.

“Everybody makes mistakes in our professions, right?

So, we are not superheroes. We don’t do everything perfectly and it was a mistake, but football is a game of mistakes.

“Sometimes mistakes finish in goals,” explained Riveiro.

The loss leaves Pirates third on the league with 25 points, and SuperSport second place with 29 points.

Meanwhile, an elated Matsatsantsa coach Gavin Hunt, praised his young team’s performance.

“Two young centre backs, people said I was crazy to put Bilal in, he was magnificent, I think.

“I said, ‘If we lose with him playing his first game then we can only win with the young players, and these young players have been magnificent this week.

“We have given 11 debutants from the Diski team this season,” quipped Hunt.

In other PSL results, Kaizer Chiefs beat Richards Bay 1-0, Golden Arrows lost 2-0 to TS Galaxy, while Polokwane City triumphed 2-1 against Chippa United.
