The South African National Defence (SANDF) said it has no linkage to comments made by former Lieutenant Commander in the SA Navy, Sylvester Mangolele.

This after he took to social media threatening to remove President Cyril Ramaphosa from his position in 48 hours, should he fail to report to the Naval College in Gordon’s Bay, Western Cape, to physically resign.

The SANDF released a statement dismissing his comments.

“The South African National Defence Force distances itself from comments made by Sylvester Mangolele on social media.

Sylvester Mangolele was dismissed from the defence force in 2018 and does not speak on behalf of the South African National Defence Force’’, the statement read.

In the video he posted Mangolele insist that he’s still an in the employ of the SANDF and reveals his force number and title.

He accused Ramaphosa of violating the Constitution, particularly section 9(2), which states that equality includes the full and equal enjoyment of all rights and freedoms.

‘’We are not playing games anymore, we must drive and lead this country in accordance with the Constitution and the law.

You have failed incumbent president Cyril Ramaphosa.

Let us not continue persistently declining to respect, promote, protect, and fulfil the rights in the bill of rights,’’ said Mangolele in the seven-minute video rant.

The SANDF condemned Mangolele’s utterances and reassured that they do not reflect nor represent the force in all forms.
