Following the two day in-person discussions in Cape Town on Monday and Tuesday, Springboks head coach Rassie Erasmus believes they have laid a solid foundation with other team’s coaches.

The meeting was attended by new assistant coaches, Tony Brown, and Jerry Flannery after the departure of former coach Jacques Nienaber and Felix Jones who went to Ireland and England, respectively.

Former international referee Jaco Peyper also joined the Boks as their national law advisor.

“We’ve had several online meetings in the last few months, but the human element is always great, and this camp allowed everyone to get to know one another in a personal and professional manner.

“Tony, Jerry and Jaco leaped straight into the swing of things, and it’s fantastic to see how they bonded with the rest of the coaching team who have been in the system for the last few years, so we are looking forward to this new chapter for Springboks rugby,” said Erasmus.

This was the team’s first engagement of this kind since they won the 2023 Rugby World Cup champions title in France.

A group of 43 players will join the first alignment camp from today for further discussions.

This ahead of selecting the international season squad that will take on Wales in Twickenham in June.

The Boks will then head back home for the much anticipated two Test series against Ireland in July, at Pretoria and Durban respectively then sum it up with the clash against Portugal in Bloemfontein.

A great deal of eagerness has been displayed by fans, as general tickets for the Bokke vs Ireland encounter sold out in less than 24 hours on Monday.

Fitty-thousand supporters are set to fill the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on the day.
