Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams and Orlando Pirates midfielder dominated the 2023/24 Premier Soccer League (PSL) Awards held virtually on Sunday.
Williams, who’s also Sundowns and Bafana Bafana captain, received the coveted PSL Footballer of the Season and the DStv Premiership Goalkeeper of the Season awards.
“I’m so honoured, happy, and over the moon.
But I couldn’t have done it myself. I would like to thank the entire Mamelodi Sundowns family, the president, chairman, the entire board, and the technical team spearheaded by coach Rhulani Mokwena.
Thank you so much for pushing me and helping me take to the next level,” said an elated Williams.
Williams coach, Rulani Mokwena, clinched the DStv Premiership Coach of the Season.
Pirates, which finished in second position in the league behind Sundowns, also scooped several awards.
Midfielder Maswanganyi, who displayed exceptional performance for Pirates this season, went home with the DStv Premiership Players’ Player of the Season, DStv Premiership Midfielder of the Season, and Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament awards.
The awards saw him pocket a combined prize money worth R400 000.
Pirates’ sensational 19-year-old Relebohile Mofokeng was crowned Premiership Young Player of the Season and Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player of the Tournament.
