The Proteas have walloped Afghanistan by nine wickets to reach the finals of the International Cricket Council (ICC) T20 World Cup at the Brian Lara Stadium, in Trinidad.
The Proteas, who won the toss and elected to bat, restricted Afghanistan to 56, before marching to the finals on 60/1.
Captain Aiden Markram attributed the win to the bowler’s excellent performance.
“The bits that we’re realising now, it’s obviously a really nice feeling, really good feeling.
“This team’s been together for a long time now as a whiteball group, both formats, and it’s nice for us to get to a final.
“We feel and we believe that we can compete with the best in the world, and we can win trophies.
“And it’s nice for us to now have that opportunity and make it into a final,” said an elated Captain Aiden Markram.
Markram heaped praise on the consistency of the bowlers during the competition.
“They’ve been really good. Probably saving the batters on certain occasions, but conditions I would say have been in their favour. But even if you say that, they still have to get it done right.
So, you have to give a lot of appreciation towards them,” explained Markram.
The Proteas will now face the winners of Thursday’s second semi-final between England and India in Barbados on Saturday.
