Police in Limpopo have arrested the daughter and sister of Sergeant Rachel Kutumela for their role in six insurance murders cases.
They were arrested by the SAPS Limpopo tracking team in Mabokelele village on Thursday afternoon after the investigating officer obtained a J50 warrant of arrest.
“The pair is a 47-year-old nurse who is a sister to the Sergeant and the other is a 27-year-old daughter to the Sergeant.
They’re expected to appear together with the accused on Friday at the Polokwane Magistrate Court on various charges including murder, fraud and money laundering,” said police spokesperson, Brigadier Athlenda Mathe.
Kutumela, who is attached to the Senwabarwana police station, was arrested last week Thursday on charges of premeditated murder, fraud and defeating the ends of justice.
The state is arguing that she took out death plans and funeral cover policies worth R10 million on behalf of the victims with several banks and insurance companies before killing them.
