Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr has sought to assure the club’s supporters that they’re looking to bolster the team this transfer window.

Despite hiring a new technical team led head coach, Nasreddine Nabi, and seven players, the team has struggled in the Betway Premiership and other local cup competitions.

Amakhosi, who are currently on sixth place in the log, are keen to sign a striker, as the team has struggled upfront and only registered 16 goals from 13 league games this season.

Motaung Jnr has implored on the club’s impatient supporters to be tolerant, as they’re looking at strengthening the team.

“It’ll be foolish for us to not be doing anything in this window.

We respect the players that we do have, give them the confidence for them to be able to do the job on the field.

But we’re very much aware of the areas that we need to strengthen.

We’ve been working tirelessly everyday with the technical staff, management and committee, to make sure that we make the right decision,” said Motaung Jnr during a media briefing at the Chiefs Village in Naturena yesterday.

Moreover, the Sporting Director highlighted that the new signings will be done during the January period, and the June off season.

Despite the lacklustre performances, Motaung Jnr is happy with the changes brought by Nabi, and is confident that it’ll soon bear fruits.

Chiefs has been linked with several players, both locally and internationally and hasn’t announced which players they’re in talks with.

Motaung Jnr said this gesture is to respect the clubs that the players are contracted to.

“We’re engaging with many clubs, with many players but it’s disrespectful to come out and speak about other clubs’ players.

I know people want to know information and progress, and we would love to share that.

For us not saying anything, it’s us not disrespecting anybody, it’s us not being negative.

If I sit outside here and speak about every single player from a different team, I’ll be doing a bit of a disservice to management of the team and the player.

We have to respect our colleagues,” explained the Sporting Director.

Chiefs next encounter is against Sekhukhune United in the log at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Sunday.
