South Africa born Pop star Tyla, has stacked up another historic record with her hit single, Water.

The record, which garnered immense success and went viral on TikTok, has hit 1 billion streams on Spotify.

This makes her the first solo African artist to achieve such a milestone, as other African stars like WizKid and Tems amongst others, reached this level through features.

Since she dropped Water, Tyla has been the epitome of “taking Mzansi to the world,” through her versatility and blend of Amapiano, Pop, R&B and Afro beats.

She has been widely celebrated by receiving recognition with accolades like winning the Grammy, MTV awards and the South African Music Awards, amongst others.

The recent milestone coincides with her British Vogue magazine cover for March 2025.

Tyla continues to bask in her international success with Mzansi fully behind her.

The #NoDNAJustRSA tops X in celebration of how she continues to break barriers, doing so proudly South African.

Tyla’s self-titled album remains a favourite with singles clinching number one spots on various music charts since it’s release last year.

She recently dropped the remix for one of the tracks which have been doing very well on radio, Push 2 Start.

The remix which features Jamaican star, Sean Paul, is anticipated to pull more numbers and streams.
