The EFF believes the continued existence of whites only settlements will cement racism in South Africa.

The party’s Gauteng chapter on Friday marched on one such enclave, Kleinfontein outside Pretoria demanding that it be dismantled.

Thousands of EFF members descended on the area in what the party said was only the beginning of a fight against racism.

“Our people don’t have land, they are crammed like sardines, while white people illegally occupy land and the state is scared of addressing the matter,” said EFF National Spokesperson Thembi Msane.

Community leaders in both Kleinfontein and Orania in the Northern Cape have consistently denied racism allegations insisting the areas have got nothing to do with race but the preservation of the Afrikaans culture, an argument dismissed by the EFF.

“We are not against any community wanting to organise itself for whatever reason, but we are opposed to people mobilising based on race. We don’t want Kleinfontein to continue existing, and we are saying to the City of Tshwane, do what is expected, enforce the law. Kleinfontein must fall and Orania must fall, said EFF Gauteng chairperson Nkululeko Dunga.”

MP and veteran politician Carl Niehaus questioned Kleinfontein’s purported Christian values.

“You can’t claim god and you practice this kind of racism. We don’t have a problem with white people but we want them to know that we are all equal,” Niehaus said.

The march was attended by thousands amid heavy police presence.
