Former uMkhonto weSizwe Party’s Secretary General has slammed all three political parties he was previously part of.
The attack on the three ( ANC, EFF and MKP) comes as Shivambu prepares to launch his own political party. Shivambu announced during a media briefing in Midrand on thursday that he was forming his own political party also claiming he had been advised to do so by members from the three organisations.
Shivambu said the three had no capacity to take the country forward as they lacked the desired leadership claiming that members were not speaking out in fear of reprisal.
“Go to leaders of the ANC on the corners and say, but what is this thing you are doing? They’ll tell you that Ramaphosa is nonsense, Ramaphosa is misleading us but they won’t tell you. Go to EFF people and they will tell you their own characterisation of the leader of the organisation and what is happening there but they don’t have the courage to tell you, same in MK and we can’t have political culture like that,” he said.
Shivambu also defended his perceived as his own silence about what he now regards as incapacity and lack of leadership arguing he used internal platforms.
“We must be able to, when we raise issues internally, you don’t have to go and gossip about it anyway. Not all the issues and concerns that I had about MK, I raised internally. Even against all odds, if there’s an opportunity to raise an issue about the wrongdoing, I would speak and clearly speak against the untouchables, the people who take drugs and tweet at night and insult us. And we’ll confront them and say, what is this about? And that is basically how we deal with these issues in terms of what it is. We never tiptoe around anyone in terms of principles, always protect principle when I would deal with these issues.” he said in his own defense.
While he attacked all three, Shivambu was more scathing on the EFF claiming that the entire leadership of the party had agreed overwhelmingly that Julius Malema, was not the best person to lead.
” Check the conduct of your government and what gets to legitimate such. That was the best decision ever. And everyone that we spoke to, they know that they were to criminalise Mbuyiseni I would never trust a person who knew that the deputy president is leaving and then they isolate Mbuyiseni on the basis that he knew that I’m leaving. It’s not only Mbuyiseni those comrades knew, we discussed it and we reached the same conclusion that we’re not being fair to society if we say that this comrade can lead this country. All of us agreed with the people who are leading EFF now. That is the reality of the situation. The people are leading EFF, all of us were unanimous,” said Shivambu.
None of the parties have responded to Shivambu’s criticism and MKP has reportedly removed him from its internal WhatsApp groups following his announcement.
