The bail application of Tiffany Meek has been postponed to 18 July by the Roodepoort Magistrates Court.

Meek was arrested last week Friday, for the alleged murder of his son, Jayden-Lee in Fleurhof in May this year, after she reported him missing.

The 11-year-old boy was later found unconscious, half naked with bruises on his body on the staircase in the complex where they resided in Fleurhof and was declared dead at the hospital.

Police said the arrest follows extensive investigations by various police divisions, which traced Jayden-Lee’s movement after he was dropped off by his school transport, but he never arrived home.

“Our investigating team was indeed working closely with the NPA on this case, where evidence gathered was presented and a warrant of arrest was issued and executed on Friday.

It is rather unfortunate that Jayden was killed and found in the very space, where he should have been safe and secure, his residential complex.

We will be following this case closely up until there is a successful conviction in this matter.

At this stage, we cannot rule out the possibility of more arrests as investigations into the murder of Jayden-Lee continue,” said deputy police minister, Dr Polly Boshielo.

Meanwhile, Deputy National Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Tebello Mosikili, said they received a lot of backlashes, when community members accused them of failing to do their work.

This after they accused the police of dragging their feet to investigate the matter and failing to conduct a thorough search at the complex.

Mosikili said it was a complex investigation.

“Where we have faulted, we would say we have faltered.

But in this case, it is very limited that we could have established immediately that the very first person who came crying was the same person supposed to protect Jayden-Lee.

It’s just unfortunate.

The time the child went missing, the mother failed to immediately report the incident, that did not happen.

Only two hours before midnight, she decided to come forward to report the case,” said Mosikili.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority, Tiffany will face charges including murder, defeating the ends of justice, obstruction of the administration of justice, and criminal injury.
