Police Task Force raids the Ngaka Modiri Molema Municipality offices

Police said the search and seizure operations at the Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipalities offices in Mahikeng, are part of ongoing investigations at the said municipality. 

This after the SAPS National cold case investigators and Special Task Force members conducted a raid at the building, resulting in the closure of the building gates and staff barred from either entering nor leaving the premises. 

“It’s about allegations of ongoing investigations of corruption, fraud and maladministration in the Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality. 

This is just a first phase of many operations to come on addressing these allegations. 

The investigations are at an advanced and sensitive stage,” said police spokesperson, Brigadier Athlenda Mathe. 

Meanwhile, is shortly worded statement, the municipality confirmed the raid, adding that it follows allegations made against some officials. 

“The municipality sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused to critical municipal services.

“But we had to allow due processes to unfold.  

“Therefore, all Municipal Officials are required to resume duty tomorrow (Friday) at 07h45 and allow the law enforcement processes to speak,” read the statement. 

The municipality said it remains committed to an uninterrupted service delivery to communities.
