Firefighters from the Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) have successfully extinguished a blaze that broke out at the Ferndale Office Park in Randburg.

EMS spokesperson Xolile Khumalo said emergency crews responded to reports of a fire at around 5:30pm at the office park, located on the corner of West Avenue and Oxford Roads.

“The fire caused the roof of the building to collapse, resulting in significant structural damage. The fire has since been contained, and no further spread is expected,” Khumalo said.

No injuries were reported, and firefighters are remaining on scene to conduct damping down operations to prevent any possible re-ignition.

Khumalo added that the cause of the fire will be investigated once all safety and firefighting operations have been completed.

“Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available,” he said.
