The Stock family has appealed for privacy following the brutal death of DJ Warras, born Warrick Stock. In a statement released on Wednesday, the family said they were devastated by the tragic and untimely killing of the 40-year-old media personality, activist, and businessman, who was shot and killed in Johannesburg inner city on Tuesday.

The family described the killing as senseless, saying it had left them heartbroken and struggling to come to terms with life without him.Affectionately known as DJ Warras and “The Shady Lurker”, Stock was described as a devoted son, a loving and proud father to three young children, a cherished brother, and a caring uncle. The family said he was the heart and anchor of their household, bringing light, laughter, and strength wherever he went.

Beyond his family life, Stock was widely respected in South Africa’s entertainment and media industry, where he was known for his influence, kindness, and commitment to his work. Tributes have continued to pour in from colleagues, friends, and fans across the country. The Stock family has asked for compassion and understanding as they begin the painful process of mourning. They have also called on the public to allow the South African Police Service the space needed to conduct a thorough investigation into the killing, in the hope that justice will be served.

At this stage, the family said they are not in a position to appoint a spokesperson. They expressed gratitude for the overwhelming messages of support and condolences received since news of Stock’s death became public, saying the kindness shown has provided moments of comfort during an incredibly difficult time.Details regarding memorial and funeral arrangements will be communicated at a later stage.
