The bail hearing for Victor Mthethwa Majola, the 44-year-old man accused of orchestrating the assassination of popular media personality Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock, was unexpectedly postponed during a brief court appearance on Tuesday.

Majola, facing charges of premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit murder, limped into the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court. He confirmed to the magistrate that he had received medical treatment while in custody. Both the state and defense agreed to postpone the matter to January 13, 2026, to allow for a formal bail application. No specific reason for the delay was stated in court, though the National Prosecuting Authority is expected to strongly oppose bail due to the severity of the Schedule 6 offenses.

Speaking to reporters outside the court, DJ Warras’ sister, Nicole Stock-Mabuza, expressed confusion and frustration over the sudden postponement. She said the family was left “in the lurch” without clear explanations, adding: “We have to wait and see what the outcome will be. I didn’t expect it to be this quick, but I know it’s part of the process.”

Stock, a beloved radio DJ and outspoken commentator on social issues, was fatally shot on December 16, 2025, in the Johannesburg CBD while reportedly inspecting hijacked buildings. Police continue to investigate, reviewing CCTV footage that helped identify suspects. An initial second arrestee was released, leaving Majola as the sole accused in custody.

The case has drawn widespread public attention, with the family urging continued solidarity as they seek justice. Majola will remain behind bars until his next court date.
