Taxi boss Victor Majola, who is linked to the killing of media personality Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, has been denied bail by the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court.

DJ Warras was shot and killed last month in the Johannesburg CBD in what authorities believe was a targeted attack.

Magistrate Annalise Tlhapi ruled that Majola’s release could jeopardise the investigation and the criminal justice process.

“The safety of the witnesses is at stake. There is a likelihood that the accused will interfere with the investigation, as there are still outstanding suspects,” said Tlhapi.

The magistrate further warned that Majola’s release could disturb public order and erode confidence in the justice system.

She also noted that Majola may evade trial, as he submitted different residential addresses to the court.

“He does not have a fixed address. He provided conflicting information, which would make it difficult to trace him should he be released,” she added.

The matter has been postponed to 11 February for further investigations.
