Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that midfielder George Matlou will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of June 2026.
The 27-year-old attacking midfielder joined Amakhosi from Swallows FC in July 2022 and went on to spend four seasons with the Soweto giants.
During his time at Naturena, Matlou contributed to the squad and was part of the side that ended the club’s decade-long trophy drought by winning the Nedbank Cup in the 2024/25 season.
In an official statement, Chiefs thanked the midfielder for his commitment and service to the club.
“After four seasons with Kaizer Chiefs, George Matlou’s contract will not be renewed when it expires at the end of June 2026. We thank George for his commitment and contribution to Amakhosi and wish him well in his future career,” the club said.
Matlou’s departure is part of the club’s ongoing squad restructuring ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, as Chiefs aim to build on recent progress and compete for major honours.
The midfielder’s next destination has not yet been confirmed, and he will become a free agent once his contract expires.
