Kaizer Chiefs have expressed confidence in their preparations for the 2026/27 football season, saying the club is ready to build on the momentum from last season as it prepares for the Toyota Cup clash against Jozi Masters at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Sunday.
Speaking ahead of the fixture, Kaizer Chiefs Corporate Communications Manager Alpheus Maphosa said the squad has enjoyed a productive pre-season, with high morale throughout the camp. He credited the arrival of the club’s new coaching team with bringing fresh ideas, tactical approaches and renewed energy as the team looks to compete at the highest level. Maphosa said the club is determined to challenge for silverware and believes the progress made towards the end of last season provides a solid foundation for the campaign ahead.
“We are not starting from scratch,” he said, adding that the team intends to continue from where it left off after finishing the previous season on a positive note.
He also confirmed that the technical team has completed its assessment of the squad and will field its strongest available line-up against Jozi Masters. The Toyota Cup, he added, will provide an opportunity to demonstrate the team’s readiness while giving supporters an early look at what they can expect from Amakhosi this season.
The match will also serve as a final test before the new campaign begins, with Chiefs aiming to translate their encouraging pre-season preparations into a strong start in their pursuit of domestic honours.
