Deputy President Paul Mashatile says he is recovering well after recently undergoing a minor medical procedure and is regaining strength each day.

In a message to South Africans on Tuesday, Mashatile said he would continue resting on the advice of his doctors until he is cleared to resume his duties.

He said work and delegated responsibilities were continuing through his office, in collaboration with government, business and other stakeholders.

Mashatile thanked his family, medical team, colleagues in government and the ANC, as well as South Africans who had sent messages of support.

He also expressed gratitude to President Cyril Ramaphosa, saying the prayers and encouragement he had received had been a source of strength.

“I assure you that I remain dedicated to the responsibilities entrusted to me, and I look forward to returning to my duties in full, serving our nation with renewed energy and commitment,” Mashatile said.

His latest update comes amid continued public interest in his health and absence from some public engagements.

Mashatile said he remained committed to his responsibilities and urged South Africans to continue working together for the progress of the country.
