Kaizer Chiefs have suffered a double injury setback ahead of their final fixture before the FIFA international break, with goalkeeper Brandon Petersen and attacker Wandile Duba ruled out.
Petersen is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks after suffering a knee injury during training on Tuesday morning.
The goalkeeper has started every match for Amakhosi since the 2026/27 season began in August, but will now undergo rehabilitation after sustaining an injury to the medial collateral ligament in his left knee.
Chiefs will also be without Duba, who is expected to miss about two weeks after picking up a hip and groin injury.
The 23-year-old attacker has already scored three goals this season and has been part of Chiefs’ strong start to the campaign.
According to the club, Duba has a minor defect in the affected area. His condition will be monitored over the coming week before the medical team decides on the next step in his recovery.
The injuries come at a crucial stage for Chiefs, who are preparing for their final match before players break for international duty.
Petersen’s absence in particular leaves Chiefs without the goalkeeper who has featured in every game since the start of the campaign, while Duba’s goalscoring form will also be missed.
The club wished both players a speedy recovery and said it looked forward to welcoming them back to action.
Chiefs are scheduled to face Golden Arrows in their final fixture before the international break.
