Head coach Pitso Mosimane has announced plans to make changes to the squad for Sunday’s international friendly against Egypt at Cairo International Stadium.

According to Mosimane, the changes are part of efforts to build squad depth and give all the players an opportunity to take to the field.

The coach has appealed for patience and support for his strategy.

“It is a friendly game, and we need to see what they are capable of at this level. So, we plead for patience and support for these youngsters. The country must understand that we have played the qualifiers against Guinea and Eritrea, and we are done. That is the most important thing.

“It is important to build for the next FIFA World Cup, and if we don’t put them in now, when are we going to see them? We do not have friendly games until the Africa Cup of Nations next year, so this is the only chance they have,” said Mosimane.

The friendly encounter against Egypt comes after a major 5-0 win over Eritrea in a 2027 AFCON qualifier.

Mosimane welcomed the victory but believes it was merely a foundation on which the team intends to build.

He concluded by acknowledging Egypt’s strength but said he believes Bafana Bafana have what it takes to compete at the highest level.

Kick-off for the match is set for 21:00 on Sunday, with Egypt hosting Bafana Bafana in an international friendly.
