The Gauteng Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) has arrested a second suspect in connection with the murder of EFF councillor Monica Dube.

National police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said investigators relied on intelligence to identify the suspect.

“Following an intelligence-driven investigation, investigators positively linked another suspect, a 39-year-old male. The suspect was arrested on Tuesday evening by the PKTT,” she said.

Dube, 44, was shot and killed in the presence of her family members at her home in Wallmannsthal in June 2026.

“The suspect is expected to appear before the Cullinan Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 7 October 2026, where he will face a charge of murder,” said Mathe.

The arrest follows the earlier arrest of Sipho Mahlangu in July 2026. He has since made several appearances before the Cullinan Magistrates’ Court and remains in police custody.

The motive for the killing has not yet been revealed, and investigations are continuing.
