Deputy President Paul Mashatile will visit the historic Ohlange Institute in Inanda, eThekwini, KwaZulu-Natal, on Friday as the government seeks to strengthen partnerships aimed at improving human resource development and service delivery.

The visit forms part of the government’s efforts to collaborate with the business community, academia, civil society and other sectors to address challenges in the country’s human resource development pipeline.

The Ohlange Institute holds a significant place in South Africa’s democratic history. Former President Nelson Mandela cast his historic vote at the school’s chapel during the country’s first democratic elections in 1994.

During the visit, Mashatile will also tour the Dr John Langalibalele Dube Amphitheatre, which is undergoing preservation and restoration work to safeguard the legacy of Dube, also known as uMafukuzela.

Dube was a prominent educator, clergyman and political leader who played a significant role in South Africa’s history.

Mashatile will be accompanied by KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli, eThekwini Mayor Cyril Xaba and KwaZulu-Natal Sport, Arts and Culture MEC Mntomuhle Khawula.

Traditional and interfaith leaders, along with senior government officials, are also expected to attend.

The programme aims to strengthen collaboration across sectors to address development challenges and improve integrated service delivery.
