The family of one of the two Soweto children who were brutally slain and their bodies left in the fields in White City and in Rockville last week said they had their suspicions all along that those nabbed by the police could have been behind the death of their child.
The killing of the two boys Nqobizitha Zulu and Tshiamo Ramanye caused outrage in the Soweto community following the arrest of a 50-year-old grandmother of one of the murdered children and her 39-year-old partner after they were found with body parts.
Nqobizitha Zulu’s grandfather, Anderson Mdingi said during the sidelines of the memorial service held at Isiseko Primary School, there were a number of occasions where his daughter was suspicious of the grandmother but decided to let the law take its cause.
“My daughter Nomthandazo suspected her but I told her let’s wait and let the law take its course. Let’s not point fingers at anyone,” he said, adding that the arrests have brought them closure.
“We feel better following the arrest. We hope they can confess in court so we can get justice because the mother, Nomthandazo (Zulu’s mother), can’t sleep at night.”
Gauteng MEC of Education, Matome Chiloane said those who worked with the two suspects should be arrested.
“I want the law enforcement to do more. There has been someone who has said to those perpetrators do this and you will get this, we want that one arrested,” he said.
The teachers of the Grade R learners said they were intelligent learners and Zulu’s teacher described him as an angel,
“You know children are angels from God, even when they do a wrong thing and you reprimand them, when they look at you and you see their eyes, you feel guilty for having shouted at them, ” he said.
While Hloniphile Ngidi, Tshiamo’s teacher said he will forever remember him as a dedicated learner who cared about his school work and had a bright future.
“I will forever remember him, may their souls rest in peace,” she said.
