Struggling Kaizer Chiefs have registered their first win of the new year, after they beat Stellenbosch FC 2-1 in a Betway Premiership clash at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday night.

Chiefs had to rally from one goal behind though, to claim the much needed three points and bring a smile to their demanding fans.

Khomotjo Lekoloane put the visitors ahead in the 20th minute, following a poor defence by Chiefs.

But man of the match Wandile Duba, equalised for the Glamour Boys few minutes later, and bagged his brace in the second half of the match, to secure a much-needed win for Chiefs.

The win moved Chiefs to fifth position, while Stellies dropped to seventh place on the log.

Meanwhile, at the DHL stadium in Cape Town, Muhsin Ertugral registered his second win in the league, when his side Cape Town City stunned Orlando Pirates 1-0.

Patrick Maswanganyi missed a penalty in the 69th minute to put the Buccaneers in front before the Citizens Darwin Gonzalez put the home team in front few minutes later.

Gonzalez’s strike ensured that City move up to sixth place on the log, while the Buccaneers are rooted in second position.

Sekhukhune United beat AmaZulu 2-0 to continue their good run in the log at the King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi.

Goals by Andy Boyeli and Linda Mntambo ensured that the visitors moved to fourth on the log, while the loss leaves Usuthu in 12th place.
