Just a few days after the historic 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification, Adidas has come back as Bafana Bafana’s Technical sponsor.
This revelation comes as the Le Coq Sportif partnership with the South African Football Association (SAFA) is set to end after the Africa Cup of Nations in February next year.
The athletic apparel and footwear corporation sponsored the team back in 2010 during the FIFA World Cup.
SAFA CEO, Lydia Monyepao applauded the renewed partnership that will span for the next three years.
“This partnership is more than a sponsorship. It’s a return to shared values of pride, resilience, and performance.
“Adidas has long been part of our football story and together, we will inspire South Africans everywhere to believe that they’ve got what it takes,” said Monyepao in a written statement.
She highlighted the role of the sponsorship in strengthening the association’s standing among the global football nations community, especially as the team competes at FIFA and CAF tournaments with the backing of a brand that invests in innovation and style while meeting the modern needs of the organization.
The sponsorship will have all national teams in the new Adidas kit, including training and pre-match apparel, match gear as well as travel and fan collections.
Bafana Bafana’s qualification has created an atmosphere of endless possibilities for fans and the whole of Mzansi.
Tributes and messages of praise continue to pour in as the country celebrates the electrifying milestone.
The team will now focus on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations which is set to kick off in Morocco, in December before jetting off to the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be hosted across Canada, Mexico and the US.
