Percy Tau of Bafana Bafana says Al Ahly’s success in the CAF Champions League is a result of retaliation following Wydad Casablanca’s defeat in the previous edition.

Tau expressed his joy at being a champion once more on SuperSport TV.

“Our fans will be very touched by this.Even though this was a very different game than the one we lost to them in [the 2021/22 season final], we were aware of it. Then, we had to change our outlook. “We were aware that if we put more effort into it, the outcome [compared to the previous one-legged final] would always be different.

Tau, who won his first Champions League medal with his former team Mamelodi Sundowns back in 2016, is the only player from South Africa to hold two medals from this prestigious competition.

Tau helped Al Ahly win the Champions League for the 11th time by scoring five goals and providing five assists. Al Ahly defeated Wydad 3-2 on the road in the final on Sunday night in Casablanca.
