With only 18% of the votes cast in the Joburg Metro counted so far, the ANC is leading with 34.57%, followed by the DA with 25.34%, while  new kid on the block ActionSA is sitting in third place with 17.57%.

These are just some of the results so far as the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) continues counting. It was widely predicted that there will be no outright winner in the City of Joburg, one of the hotly contested metros in the country.

Political parties like the ANC and the EFF have committed to forming coalitions with anyone they can reach an agreement with.

The DA on the other hand has vowed to never work with the EFF, while ActionSA doesn’t want to have anything to do with the ANC.

The North West has completed 28% of vote counting so far and the ANC is leading with 52.7%, the DA with 14. 35% and the EFF sits on 15.34%.

The Northern Cape has completed 84% of its results counting, followed by Western Cape at 46% and the Free State at 26%.

The rest of the provinces have counted votes ranging from 15% to 37%.

Nationally, 35% of the votes have been counted.

The IEC said it will announce final results on Thursday.
