ANC Deputy President Paul Mashatile has called on the business sector to generously invest in the governing party, saying the funding will help the ANC continue improving the lives of millions of South Africans.

Mashatile was speaking at a chairman’s roundtable fundraising dinner held at the Rustenburg Civic Centre in the North West. He was joined by the ANC’s provincial leadership and NEC members Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa and Thembi Simelane. The gala dinner focused on the ANC’s Action Plan, including its economic 10-point plan, as the party prepares for next year’s local government elections.Addressing business leaders, Mashatile said the funds raised would play a critical role in strengthening the party’s capacity to serve communities.

“Tonight’s gathering is more than just a fundraising dinner; it is a strategic step forward for the future,” Mashatile said. He added that the North West would host the ANC’s January 8 anniversary celebrations next year, marking 114 years since the organisation’s founding.“It will not just be an event, but an opportunity to demonstrate unity, organisational strength and our readiness to lead,” he said.

Mashatile stressed that fundraising efforts would also help the party prepare for the 2026 local government elections. “This election will test our ability to reconnect with our communities, restore trust and deliver quality services. Every rand raised tonight and in future events will help strengthen our structures, mobilise our branches and ensure the ANC remains the trusted choice of our people,” he said.He further noted that fundraising was about more than money, but about building partnerships that drive socio-economic transformation.

“The contributions made tonight will help us prepare for the January 8 celebrations, equip our branches for effective election campaigns and support community programmes that improve lives and restore hope,” Mashatile said.

The deputy president also reminded party members of the ANC’s achievements since 1994, citing the construction of houses, the provision of clean drinking water and the rollout of electricity to millions of South Africans. Meanwhile, the ANC’s fundraising activities continue in Sun City on Tuesday, where Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula is set to lead a golf day at the Lost City Golf Course.
