Floyd Shivambu has once again been elevated in the uMkhonto Wesizwe Party.Shivambu who left the EFF to join the third largest party and the official opposition,Is now the MKP’s Secretary General.The party announced that former President Jacob Zuma appointed Shivambu to the position and that the appointment is with immediate effect.Shivambu replaces Dr Sifiso Maseko who stepped down last week to return to his erstwhile employment at the Gauteng Health Department.Maseko had been on suspension when he joined MKP and went to his old job when the department informed him it was no longer pursuing charges against him.
“As prescribed by the MK P constitution, the President, has in consultation with the MK Party National Officials, appointed Commander Nyiko Floyd Shivambu as the Secretary General of UMkhonto Wesizwe Party effective immediately. Commander Nyiko Floyd Shivambu will assume all the functions of the Secretary General as prescribed by the Constitution of the MKP,” said the party in a statement.
MKP said the party will soon the National Organiser post vacated by Shivambu.MKP as a formalised dictatorship does not have internal electoral processes and all appointments are made by Zuma and or whoever he delegates the authority to.
Meanwhile speculation continues about who else will leave the EFF to join MKP.This week saw longtime Zuma lawyer and EFF founding National Chairperson Dali Mpofu ditch the red berets for MK sparking speculation that more could follow.
