Lamontville Golden Arrows handed Mamelodi Sundowns their first defeat of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season, with a 1-0 win at the King Zwelithini stadium in Umlazi on Wednesday. Khuliso Mudau made his return for Sundowns, but even his presence failed to ignite the performance of the reigning champions, despite enjoying most of the possession.

Abafana Bes’thende were rewarded when striker Junior Dion found the back of the net in the 30th minute, to score his fourth goal of the season. At the FNB stadium, a lacklustre Kaizer Chiefs played to a 1-1 draw with Marumo Gallants, in a match that they could have easily won in the first half. Despite enjoying most of the performance in the first half, Amakhosi failed to convert most of the chances, as attempts by Ashley Du Preez and Gaston Sirino went wayward.

It was left to newcomer Khanyisa Mayo, to put Chiefs in the lead in the 39th minute, following good play from Du Preez. Amakhosi were awarded a penalty six minutes later, however Sirino saw his poor attempt at goal saved by goalkeeper Washington Arubi.Gallants equalised in the 75th minute, through a superb strike by substitute Jaison, to ensure that the game ends in a stalemate. League leaders Sekhukhune United failed extend their reach in the log, when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Chippa United at the New Peter Mokaba stadium in Polokwane.

It was the away team that first registered a goal through Boy Madingwane on the 54th minute, but the Chilli Boys celebrations were short lived, when Bradley Grobler equalised from the penalty spot in the 79th minute of the game. Grobler failed to put Babina Noko in the lead, when he failed to convert his second penalty which was saved by the goalkeeper. Meanwhile, in a coastal match, Stellenbosch FC played to a 0-0 draw with Durban City at the Danie Craven stadium in Stellenbosch. The draw will come as a relief for Stellies, after they lost four of their previous games across all competitions. Orbit FC handed high riding Polokwane City their first loss of the season, when they beat them 1-0 at the Olympia Park stadium in Rustenburg.

The hard-fought win is Mswenko Boys second win of the season, after a baptismal of fire in the country’s top league. TS Galaxy registered their biggest win of the season, when they overpowered Amazulu FC 3-1 at the Mbombela stadium. This was the Rockets fourth win from their last five league games and moved to fourth position on the log. Meanwhile, Richards Bay emerged victorious with a 1-0 win against Magesi FC, who are now rooted 14th on the log after only registering one win since the start of the season.
