City of Tshwane engages Eskom and Rand Water as it struggles to service its close to R3 billion debt
The City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality has admitted it is struggling to keep up with payments to Rand Water and to Eskom saying it is in constant engagement with its creditors to explain its financial woes. The Executive Mayor Cilliers Brink, MMC responsible for Finance Peter Sutton and MMC responsible for Utilities, Regional Operations and Coordination. The National Youth Task Team (NYTT) says it is important for the ANC Youth League to be an independent organisation if it is to “survive the next phase of its existence, it must assert its autonomy”. The Youth league was disbanded in 2019 after it failed to hold its elective conference. President Cyril Ramaphosa has placed Justices Tshifhiwa Maumela and Nomonde Mngqibisa-Thusi on suspension to allow the Judicial Conduct Tribunal to investigate suspected misconduct regarding alleged excessive delays by the judges in handing down a significant number of judgments. Zimbabwe Exemption Permit (ZEP) holders are breathing a sigh of relief after the North Gauteng High Court on Wednesday interdicted Minister of Home Affairs Aaron Motsoaledi from deporting them once their permits expired. President Cyril Ramaphosa is “satisfied with the level of progress” made in the implementation of the recommendations of the Zondo Commission according to his spokesperson, Vincent Magwenya. Magwenya was responding to Chief Justice Zondo’s concerns raised last week where he said the government was not implementing the recommendations contained in the State Capture report he submitted to the presidency last year. The Department of Heath is calling on registered initiation schools to work with healthcare workers to ensure that there is adherence to safety standards as the winter initiation season kicks off. The warning comes after an Atteridgeville family frantically searches for their son, 42-year-old Bernard Maphaha who is believed to have died at an illegal initiation school and his body allegedly tossed into the Hennops River.
