The Democratic Alliance has claimed victory after the Constitutional Court ordered that South Africans who lost their citizenship when they took up those of other countries were treated unfairly and that they be allowed to remain South Africans even after taking citizenship of other countries. The Apex court found that a South African Citizenship Act of 1995 that required South Africans to apply for and get a letter from the home affairs minister allowing them to retaining citizenship before taking up that of any countries was unconstitutional. A defiant Democratic Alliance continue with its legal challenge of the Employment Equity Amendment Act which it claims constitutes reverse racism. The search for 3 police officers who disappeared last week while travelling from Free State to Limpopo has led to a gruesome discovery. A search by divers at the Hennops River in Centurion resulted in the retrieval of 5 bodies with 3 believed to be those of the missing officers. Constables Cebekhulu Linda, 24, Keamogetswe Buys, 30, and Boipelo Senoge, 20, were last seen at a petrol station in Grasmere, outside Johannesburg. While police are convinced that three of the bodies are those of the missing officers there’s no indication of who are the two others retrieved from the river.…
The South African anti-Ukraine lobby has intensified its campaign against the regime of Vladimir Zelensky which they accuse of war crimes including but not limited to the targeting of civilians and forcefully drafting Ukrainians into the army regardless of their age or health status.The South African lobby accuses countries arming Ukraine and Israel of being complicit in war crimes and have embarked on campaigns to try and disrupt the flow of weaponry. There is still uncertainty about how the VAT increase reversal will be implemented following an eleventh hour decision by the National Treasury. The ministry of finance announced the reversal on Thursday morning citing talks with political parties which he said had agreed on alternative sources of revenue to cover the R75 billion rand budget shortfall.
