Residents of Tshwane’s townships and informal settlements have expressed renewed hope of getting improved services following the takeover of an ANC-led coalition government. The ANC on Friday led a march to the City of Tshwane where it called on its deployees to ramp up service delivery and create much needed jobs. The ANC has denied claims by DA Federal Chairperson Helen Zille that her party was approached by big business to prop up and defend President Cyril Ramaphosa. The allegation by Zille essentially means the state has potentially been captured by capital through Ramaphosa and the ANC through Secretary General Fikile Mbalula dismissed the claim saying it was wishful thinking by Zille. The EFF has slammed the Democratic Alliance over its admission that it has been doing the bidding of big business by among others ‘propping up and protecting’ President Cyril Ramaphosa. On Monday the Gauteng education department released findings of its investigation into allegations of racism at the Pretoria Girls High which revealed a disturbing culture of racism at the institution. The probe was instigated by a protest by black learners in July that was itself in response to a whites only WhatsApp group in which Africans were referred to in derogatory terms with the full knowledge of teachers and school management. The government has taken the first step towards normalising relations between warring black and white residents of Hartbeestpoort who are divided over access to the lucrative dam.
