City of Joburg Mayor Dada Morero has bowed to pressure following his call for the employment of foreign nationals in the metro’s law enforcement agencies which he said would eliminate language barriers he believes are frustrating the fight against crime. The ANC led coalition government of the City of Joburg has cemented its hold on the municipality with the election of Action SA’s Nobuhle Mthethwa defeated the Democratic Alliance’s Nonhlanhla Sefumba with 180 to 68 votes. Leader of the Construction Workers and Mining Union Joseph Mathunjwa has attributed the ANC’s decline in the May 2029 general elections to the pain felt by families of the Marikana massacre.
