Controversial political fixer Brown Mogotsi will appear in person at parliament ad-hoc committee investigating allegations of corruption in the police sector on Tuesday. Agriculture Minister John Steenhuisen has received the first consignment of one million high-potency Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccines, at the OR Tambo International Airport. This shipment from Biogénesis Bagó in Argentina, will be followed by further consignments scheduled to arrive over the coming weeks, including vaccine sourced from BVI in Botswana and Dollvet in Turkey. The department said a total of over five million vaccines will have entered the country from the three international suppliers by the end of next month. The Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality remains an epicentre of foot and mouth disease (FMD) outbreak in the North West, allegedly due to its proximity to Gauteng which is the second most affected province after KwaZulu Natal. The North West Department of Education says 71 learners were involved in a school bus accident on Tuesday, in Gamaloka Village at the Tswaing Local Municipality. According to the department, the accident occurred on a gravel road between Sleepsteen and Gerdau Farms, when the learners were being transported to school. “According to the preliminary paramedic report, 37 learners sustained injuries with the condition of one learner described as of serious concern. The country’s unemployment rate has decreased by 0.5 percentage points from 31.9% in the third quarter of 2025 to 31.4% in the fourth quarter of 2025. This is according to Statistician-General Risenga Maluleke, when he revealed the Quarterly Labour Force Survey conducted by Statistics South Africa (StatsSA) in Pretoria.
