The Department of Water and Sanitation has closed two more sluice gates at the Vaal Dam on Friday, as the water levels continue to decrease. According to the department, the first one opened at 10:00 and the second gate at 16:00 on Friday afternoon, leaving only four gates open. Motorists can breathe a sigh of relief at the pumps with effect from midnight Tuesday next week, as the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources announced a drop in fuel prices for May. The SAPS has confirmed that they have found vehicle parts including a front and rear bumper of the VW Polo that is suspected to be linked to the three police officers whose bodies were found yesterday at the Hennops River in Centurion. Gauteng police have launched an investigation into the fire that destroyed 11 classrooms at the Riverlea High School in Randburg on Sunday evening.According to the police preliminary investigations, the fire started at around 18:00 in an unused classroom and rapidly spread, resulting in the destruction of an entire block comprising of 11 classrooms.
