Police have nabbed a second suspect in connection with the killing of 49-year-old Rustenburg businessman, Ben Gumbi. Two suspects linked to the housebreaking and theft of over 4 million US dollars at President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala farm in Limpopo in February 2020, are expected to appear before the Bela Bela Magistrate’s court on 07 November 2023. The Department of Agriculture has issued a warning about the suspected outbreak of Foot-and-Mouth (FMD) disease at a farm in Ramatlabama, at the Ngaka Modiri Molema District in the North West. According to the department’s media liaison officer, Reggie Ngcobo, the farm has been placed under quarantine due to serology results, pending outcomes from an ongoing investigation. ‘’The department wishes to emphasize at this point in time, it’s just a suspicion of an outbreak. The Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, Thoko Didiza has given the go ahead for poultry products to be imported as the country battles with the outbreak of avian flu. The highly contagious viral infection that affects wild birds and poultry has hit the country’s farms.
