More than 200 artists have signed a petition by the non-profit organisation, Artist Rights Alliance (ARA), to prevent Artificial Intelligence (AI) developers from infringing upon the rights of human artists. The organization, which advocates for artists, believes that the use of artists’ music without permission dilutes royalty obligations. ‘’Working musicians are already struggling to make ends meet in the streaming world, and now they have the added burden of trying to compete with a deluge of AI-generated noise. The South African Football Association (SAFA) has sought to take legal action against the Hawks, after it instituted a raid at its headquarters last month. According to the Hawks, the raid was in connection with allegations of fraud and corruption to the tune of R1.3 million levelled against the Association’s President, Danny Jordaan. In its bid to tackle the scourge of teen pregnancy and HIV infections, the Department of Health has launched the first-of-its-kind contraceptives vending in Mthatha, Eastern Cape. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), South Africa has the highest rate of teen pregnancy globally, with one in four girls becoming pregnant before turning 20 years old. In recent events, about 145 teen births were recorded on Christmas Day, while 190 were recorded on New Year’s Day, including two 14-year-old teen mothers in KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape respectively. Red Bull Formula 1 team principal, Christian Horner will know his fate later this week following allegations of inappropriate behaviour against a female team member.
