The Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, Thoko Didiza has given the go ahead for poultry products to be imported as the country battles with the outbreak of avian flu. The highly contagious viral infection that affects wild birds and poultry has hit the country’s farms. The Rustenburg Magistrate’s Court in the North West, has denied Sibongiseni Ngubane bail in connection with the killing of businessman Ben Gumbi. This after the state successfully opposed his bail bid, after the same court granted the reopening of his bail application on Monday. Prosecutor Faith Mogaki argued that the state has a strong case against the accused. The Gauteng Department of Health has confirmed that two children have died after allegedly consuming sweets and chips allegedly bought from a vendor at West Deep in Westonaria. According to the Department, five boys were rushed to the Bekkersdal West Community Health Centre and two of them aged between two and three-years-old were declared dead on arrival. The decision to close down the school comes after it allegedly relocated to another venue and operated under a new name without permission.
