The Johannesburg High Court yesterday dismissed the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) urgent court application to have the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) planned national shutdown declared as unlawful in an effort to stop Monday’s march from taking place. “The applicant’s application to have the national shutdown, which is planned and called by the first respondent and which is scheduled to commence on Monday, March 20, declared unlawful, be and is hereby dismissed”, the court judgement read. The Democratic Alliance (DA) has applied for an urgent court interdict against the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF’s) planned shutdown on Monday 20 March and asked for the party’s leadership to be held accountable should there be any casualties or damages to property during their programme of action. The Labour Appeal Court of South Africa has interdicted the strike action by Nehawu yet its members have vowed to intensify their actions as from today.
