Burnley Football Club has extended Bafana Bafana talisman Lyle Foster’s stay with the English Premier League side.

Foster joined Burnley 10 months ago from Belgian side K.V.C. Westerlo and the club has now given the 23-year-old a new five-year deal, until June 2028.

The striker has been rewarded for his hard work since join the Clarets, which has seen him score 3 goals in 7 league appearances, as well as providing two assists.

“Burnley Football Club are delighted to announce that striker Lyle Foster has signed a new five-year deal at Turf Moor.

The South African striker has adjusted to life in the Premier League impressively, scoring three goals and grabbing two assists in seven games,” the club said in a statement.

Head Coach Vincent Kompany says Foster is going to be an important striker in the Premier League.

“He came in from a very small club before coming to us and we believe he is going to be an important striker in the Premier League.

When you compare the benchmarks in the Premier League there has been a slight correction, and also to make sure we have him at the club a bit longer, so we are really happy with that,” said Kompany.

The Johannesburg-born striker has revealed that he’s happy with the extension and is enjoying his time with the club.

“I’m very happy to stay here.

It’s a club with very good people and I have really enjoyed working here and I’m pleased to extend my stay.

The supporters, Turf Moor, everything here, the way we organise ourselves and our standards is something I fell in love with. It’s a club that pushes towards excellence and that’s something I want to be a part of,” an excited Foster said.

Burnley have however had a poor start in the Premier League recording one win so far from their opening nine games.

They are in the relegation zone in 18th place on the log standings, but Foster remains steadfast in his belief that the Clarets will turn things around.

Their next league encounter will be against Bournemouth on Saturday 28 October and the Bafana star will be out to bag another goal.
