This weekend might very well be dubbed as the biggest days for sport between South Africa and Australia in recent years.
World Rugby Champions, the Springboks are set to battle it out with the Wallabies as they will be concluding their two-legged Castle Lager Rugby Championship series in Perth.
This follows their stunning 33-7 victory over Australia last weekend in the championship opener in Brisbane.
The Bokke have a point to prove as they currently hold a three-game winning streak over the Wallabies and hope to improve on their winning streak down under.
The last time they held a longer run was from a four-match period between July 1971 and July 1993.
Ahead of this clash, coach Rassie Erasmus effected about ten changes to the starting 15 squad.
Amongst others, captain Siya Kolisi who was part of Brisbane’s win, will on Saturday be replaced by Marco van Staden while Ox Nche and Eben Etzebeth will be on the bench.
Despite some criticism on these changes, Erasmus still maintained that this is part of the plan to “build momentum and expand squad depth.”
Meanwhile, tension is brewing as South Africa’s UFC 297 world champion, Dricus du Plessis will defend his UFC Middleweight division title against Nigerian rival, Israel Adesanya, also in Perth on Sunday morning.
Du Plessis became the first South African UFC world champion after defeating Sean Strickland by one point in Toronto earlier this year.
The fight between du Plessis and Adesanya, who is a former champion is expected to get quite physical, as they both have a lot on the line.
The two fighters have been making waves on the social media especially following du Plessis’ comments about him being the “real African fighter”, which Adesanya did not take kindly to.
What also makes this a highly anticipated clash is the competitiveness between South Africa and Nigeria.
