Xiluba leader Bongani Baloyi want the Special Investigation Unit to probe possible corruption at the DA-run City of Tshwane.
Baloyi claims officials at the city ignored the advice by a bid adjudication committee not to award a multi-million rand tender to a company he has not named which he says was flagged for various issues.
Baloyi reported the matter formerly to the SIU at its offices in Pretoria accompanied by a dozen or so Xiluva officials as well as a delegation pressure group Tshwane Parliament including its leader Tshepo Mahlangu.
Baloyi described the situation at the cash strapped metropolitan municipality as a “crime scene” adding that Mayor Cilliers Brink and Mayoral Committee Members in the DA-led coalition government were using their positions to enrich themselves and their clothes associates as well as relatives. “The DA MMC were thin like you and I when they got into Tshwane House, fast forward they all have big bellies because of your money which they are stealing. Some of them were driving Polos when they were appointed but now they drive the latest Mercedes Benz, how did these people accumulate so fast? That’s why we want the SIU to look into their activities,” said Baloyi during a march to the municipality on Wednesday where he announced the move to report the allegations to the SIU.
The SIU is already probing tenders awarded in connection with the Roiwaal Water Treatment Plant and told Xiluva that its claims may be investigated speedily should they be found to be linked to the project.
“We will look into the evidence that they have given us and if its related to the proclamation we already have then it will be included in the investigation but if its not then we will need to amend the proclamation or request for a new one,” said spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago after meeting with Baloyi and his delegation.
