Chelsea FC were comprehensively beaten 3-0 by Paris Saint-Germain in their UEFA Champions League round of 16 second leg, sealing an emphatic 8-2 aggregate victory for the French giants.

PSG wasted no time asserting their dominance in London, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia opening the scoring inside six minutes after a powerful run and finish. Bradley Barcola doubled the lead shortly after, capping off a swift counterattack to leave Chelsea reeling early on.

The hosts failed to mount any meaningful response, and PSG continued to control proceedings with ease. Substitute Senny Mayulu added a third in the second half with a composed finish, underlining the gulf in quality between the sides. The defending champions now advance comfortably to the quarter-finals, where they will face either Liverpool FC or Galatasaray SK.

Meanwhile, Manchester City were eliminated after a 2-1 home defeat to Real Madrid, going down 5-1 on aggregate.

City’s hopes of a comeback suffered a major blow when captain Bernardo Silva was sent off for handball, leading to an early penalty converted by Vinícius Júnior. Despite being reduced to ten men, City briefly levelled through Erling Haaland before halftime.

However, the Spanish side once again showed their clinical edge in Europe, with Vinícius Júnior grabbing his second in stoppage time to seal victory and continue Real Madrid’s dominance over City in recent Champions League campaigns.

Elsewhere, Arsenal secured their place in the quarter-finals with a 2-0 win over Bayer 04 Leverkusen, completing a 3-1 aggregate triumph. Goals from Eberechi Eze and Declan Rice ensured a comfortable passage for Mikel Arteta’s side.

In one of the standout results of the night, Sporting CP produced a remarkable comeback to thrash FK Bodø/Glimt 5-0 after extra time, overturning a three-goal first-leg deficit to progress 5-3 on aggregate.

The quarter-final picture is now beginning to take shape, with Europe’s heavyweights and surprise contenders set for a thrilling next round.
