Chelsea Football Club have confirmed that they have parted company with head coach Enzo Maresca, bringing an end to his tenure at Stamford Bridge.
In a statement released by the club on Thursday, Chelsea acknowledged Maresca’s contributions, highlighting the success achieved under his leadership, including lifting the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup trophies. The club said these achievements would remain a significant part of its recent history.
“During his time at the Club, Enzo led the team to success in the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup. Those achievements will remain an important part of the Club’s recent history, and we thank him for his contributions,” the statement read.
Chelsea indicated that the decision was taken with the remainder of the season in mind, as the club continues to compete on multiple fronts. With four competitions still in play, including the push for qualification to next season’s UEFA Champions League, both parties agreed that a change in leadership would offer the best opportunity to get the campaign back on track.
The club did not immediately announce a replacement or indicate whether an interim coach would be appointed.
Chelsea concluded the statement by wishing Maresca well in his future endeavours, as speculation begins over the next chapter for both the club and the Italian coach.
