On Wednesday, Dr. Nandipha Magudumana and her co-accused will make a bail application in the Free State’s Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court. The accused are accused of murder, helping an escapee, and subverting the course of justice.

Senohe Matsoara, a former employee of G4S, and Teboho Lipholo, a hired camera installer at the center, are the other two defendants. They are accused of aiding Thabo Bester’s suspected escape from the Mangaung Correctional Facility in May of last year.

The state had previously challenged Magudumana’s and the two individuals charged with supporting Bester’s release on bail. Zolile Sekeleni, Magudumana’s father, was cleared of all charges and released on a R10,000 bond. There aren’t any open or closed cases for Dr. Magudumana.

The case involving Thabo Bester, a convicted murderer and rapist, is expected to take a very long time, according to legal expert advocate Thabo Molete. The latest arrests of two more former G4S personnel on Monday, according to Molete, may only be the beginning.

“Believe me, I think this issue will take a decade or more to resolve. I welcome criticism. I say so in part due to the large number of players present. Even while it may be proven that politicians are engaged, this is not a straightforward or straightforward case,” Molete said in an interview with the SABC.
