A year later after the untimely passing of rapper, Constantinos Tsobanoglou affectionately known as Costa Titch, the speculations surrounding his death have finally been put to bed.

Costa lost his life on 11 March 2023 after he collapsed during a live performance at the Ultra Music Festival in Johannesburg.

Multiple theories about the cause of his death varying from poison to drug use, circulated across social media after his passing.

His family has however released a statement on Instagram to shed some light on his tragic demise.

“Amidst speculations, our team and family have collaborated with pathologists to unveil the true cause of his passing.

The post-mortem examination revealed significant strain on Costa’s heart, unbeknownst to him, compounded by enduring stress and fatigue.

This culmination likely led to an irregular heartbeat, triggering the seizure that claimed his life,” read a statement from the family.

Costa made great strides in his career as a dancer and a rapper, infusing trap, Hip-Hop, Amapiano and Afrobeat genres.

His hit track “Nkalakatha Remix” won best collaboration at the South African Hip Hop Awards in 2020.

The Amapiano rapper also received recognition for his impact in the music industry when he received numerous nominations at the All-Africa Music Awards in 2022.

The recent announcement about what led to his death saw fans flood the comment section with messages of condolences and much deserved shout-outs to the star he was.

“RIP Big Flexa” @elysian katastrophe commented.

@hazel_marie37 wrote “Forever in our hearts and your legacy will live on”.

Costa’s family further thanked his fans, referred to as the Titch gang for the love and support they gave him throughout his career.

“In this time of mourning, we extend out heartfelt gratitude to his devoted fans for their unwavering love and support. Let us continue to honour his legacy together,’’ added the statement.
