DA’s Helen Zille said her party aims to take control of Ditsobotla Municipality

Helen Zille, the DA’s Federal Council chairperson has told the residents of the Ditsobotla Local Municipality to use their votes to bring about change in their lives.

Zille said this during the DA’s campaign at the Lichtenburg-based municipality to woo voters ahead of the much-anticipated by-elections while she emphasised that the DA is the only party that can rescue the troubled municipality.

“Campaigning in Ditsobotla makes it clear that this municipality has the right to change like never before. Service delivery collapse is apparent everywhere and people understand the consequences of their vote and have realised that ANC will only bring more decay because the ANC cannot even save itself, let alone Ditsobotla,” Zille said.

She said they aim to take control of the ANC-previously-led municipality.

“I have been campaigning in Coligny, Itsoseng, and Lichtenburg and all over this municipality. And people have come out in their numbers. The atmosphere has been extraordinarily positive, and people realise the future of this municipality and their community is in their hands.

“So as we move through this municipality and move through South Africa, voters realise the DA is the only party big enough and united enough and diverse enough to beat the ANC and that is what our aim is here in Ditsobotla, where the ANC can be brought  to be under 50%,” she said.

Following the dissolution of the troubled Ditsobotla by the North West provincial government, the much-anticipated by-elections will be held on Wednesday the 14 of December.

Various political parties, including the ANC have been canvassing for votes in the area.
