Sipho Ramosepele, the defense lawyer for two of the five men on trial, insists there were no intruders in the house on the night Bafana Bafana captain, Senzo Meyiwa was gunned down.

Ramosepele said this while cross examining the fourth witness, Mthokozisi Thwala on his version of events on the night Meyiwa was shot and killed.

The five men on trial are Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa and Sifisokuhle Nkani Ntuli

Ramosepele represents accused one Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya and accused two Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi and he disputed Thwala’s version that intruders got into the house. Thwala had earlier told the court that two men stormed the house, one carrying a firearm and the other had something that looked like a knife.

Ramosepele yesterday disputed that there were intruders in the house.

“Now I am going to put it to you that this story of Longwe Twala pushing the first intruder out and running out of the house is not correct. It is not the truth,” said Ramosepele.

Thwala: “I don’t know if you say it is not the truth then what is it the truth”

Ramosepele: “I am going to demonstrate. I am taking it bit by bit and we will arrive at the conclusion that clearly shows that there were no intruders in the house. Longwe Thwala was there in the house as the shot was fired. But we will take it step by step.”

Thwala remained adamant that there were intruders and last week he said they entered the house through the kitchen door and demanded cell phones and money while Meyiwa, Tumelo Madlala, Zandile Khumalo, Ntombi Khumalo, Kelly Khumalo and Longwe Thwala were in the house.

Thwala said Longwe Thwala ran out the house while Meyiwa and Madlala had a scuffle with the gunmen. He added that Zandile and her mother Ntombi (MaKhumalo) were hitting the other intruders with crutches.

The trial continues.
