Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF)  leader Julius Malema has called for the arrest of President Cyril Ramaphosa for the Phala Phala farm scandal, calling him a “thief” and saying he is not above the law.

Malema was addressing thousands of party members who filled the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg during the EFF’s 10th year anniversary celebrations on Saturday.

“Ramaphosa is a thief. He killed the people of Marikana. He stole South African Money. He sleeps on a bed full of dollars and he is not arrested. Ramaphosa is not above the law. Ramaphosa must go to jail  whether they like it or not,” said Malema.

The President has been implicated in a money-laundering scandal after it emerged that millions of dollars, stashed in furniture, had been stolen at his Phala Phala farm. However, Ramaphosa was cleared by the acting Public Protector Kholeka Gcaleka of any wrongdoing in the saga.

Malema said the Red Beret must assist the country in fighting corruption.

“We need to fight corruption fighters because without succeeding in the fight against corruption we will never achieve anything. Corruption is what makes you unemployed. Corruption steals money that buys medicine for HIV/AIDS.

“Corruption steals money that must go and give children feeding schemes. Corruption is the one that creates potholes because roads are not quality as a result of corruption,” said Malema.
